Runaway sock

When I used to live in a brownstone-like apartment in Brooklyn, I took my laundry to the cleaners a good seven blocks away. That was the closest one available. So, when I lost a sock, there was a lot of territory to cover and very likely that it would have been dropped along the way. I then moved into a high-rise building that had its laundry room on the second floor. I was on the ninth. I could have lost it on the elevator or someone could have taken it when moving my wet clothes to the dryer since I was taking up a washer. The next two apartments had washing machines on my floor so it was just a matter of walking backwards from my apartment bedroom door to the laundry room (usually less than 30 feet away). The next one was another laundromat situation, but at least this one was right across the street and they folded your clothes. So, if a sock was missing, it probably was because I missed putting it in the bag when I dropped it off.

So, HOW THE HELL DO I LOSE A SOCK NOW THAT MY WASHER AND DRYER IS LITERALLY OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM DOOR!??!?!??! WHERE IS MY SOCK!?!??!! Damn it!
